Watertown Emergency Services Practice Mock Bus Accident

At 9:30 a.m. Watertown Emergency Responders participated in a mock bus accident at the 500 block of Golf Course Road. The initial call was for a van versus a bus accident with multiple serious injuries.

Please be advised that this drill will last until approximately 11:30 a.m. Watertown Fire Rescue would like to advise citizens to stay out of this area as multiple emergency vehicles will be coming and going.

Aggravated Assault Arrest

On April 26th, 2016, in the late night hours, Watertown Police responded to the 1300 block of 13th Ave SW for a report of an assault.

Two male subjects were involved in physical altercation resulting in one of the males receiving serious non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Watertown Fire Rescue was called out at approximately 10:15 p.m. for a trailer house fire at 929 40th St SW. Upon arrival firefighters found flames coming out the front of the trailer house.

Watertown Fire Rescue would like to inform the citizens that the City of Watertown recently replaced all the early warning sirens. The Federal Signal 2001 Series siren is a high power, rotating, uni-directional outdoor warning siren.

The high-decibel output provides maximum coverage. The new Federal Signal system has 3 distinct warning signals: steady, wail, and wail fast. The new system will not have a pre-warning voice like the old system had.

Drug Arrest

On 4-23-16 at approximately 0900hrs WPD officers had contact with Mr. Tanner Tillman and Mr. Zachary Warner. Officers received information that the two subjects were traveling to Watertown and might be in possession of illegal drugs.

Update on Highway 81 Construction

Reede Construction, Inc., a contractor for the South Dakota Department of Transportation, will be closing Highway 81 between 3rd Ave. N. and 4th Ave. N. in Watertown on Monday, April 11, depending on weather.
