Public Participation and Involvement Program

The City of Watertown conducts the following activities to involve the public in the development and implementation of its Stormwater Phase II Program:

•           Stakeholder involvement in Construction Site Runoff Control and Postconstruction BMP Programs

•           Communicating through existing groups

–         Upper Big Sioux River Watershed Project  

–         Watertown Area Home Builders Association

–         Local realtors, developers, and engineers

•           “Dump-No-Waste” Hotline – Call 605-882-6202 x29

-         The public should report any observed illicit discharges or illegal dumping to area waterways, the city’s storm sewer system, or areas draining to them.

-         Examples could include dumping used oil into street inlets, dumping restaurant grease traps in parking lots, or tracking sediment into city streets or off the property of a construction site.
