Summer Reading Program

Read to win books, bags and toys. Earn at least 1,000 points to enter the prize drawings for gift cards, ice cream, pizza, zoo tickets and more! Weekly Sessions

Kids are invited to join Miss Sarah and her helpers, Miss Deb and Miss Kelsey for weekly sessions full of reading, crafts, science, games, and music! Grade levels are determined by the grade the child is entering in the Fall of 2022. Online registration is required. Limit of 20 children per session. Sessions will last approximately 45 minutes. 

Birth - Age 5

All children too young to start Kindergarten in the fall are welcome to join one of these sessions.

Grades K, 1 & 2

Choose one of these sessions for children starting Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade in the fall.

Grades 3 & 4

Choose one of these sessions for children starting 3rd or 4th grade in the fall.

Grades 5 & 6

Children starting 5th or 6th grade in the fall.

S.T.E.A.M. Team

S.T.E.A.M. Team will continue through summer for kids in grades 4, 5 & 6.  Join us as we experiment with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.  Wednesdays 4:00-4:45.  REGISTER

LEGO Club

Come enjoy time to free-build with the Library's huge collection of LEGO blocks. No registration is required.

  • July 26 - 3:30-5:00 pm

Special Events

No registration is required for most of these events, unless otherwise noted. If special events are scheduled during your weekly session time, then the special event will take the place of your session.
  • SRP Kick Off with NS Inflatables - Wednesday, 6/1 1:00-3:00pm -- Kick off the summer with a bouncing good time!
  • Zoo Day at the Library – Wednesday, 6/15 1:00pm and 3:00pm -- Zoo Educators and Zoo Crew bring live animals to see and touch!
  • Jay & Leslie Juggling and Other Nonsense – Tuesday, 6/21 10:00am and 7:00pm – Juggling, stories, and other hijinks highlight this aquatic themed program.
  • Library Hydrant Party – Wednesday, 6/29 1:00pm-3:00pm – The Fire Truck will be spraying water for kids young and old to enjoy.  Don’t forget to bring a towel!
  • Elsenpeter Marionettes – Wednesday, 7/13 3:00pm and 7:00pm– The Elsenpeter program delights the young and the young-at-heart while stressing the importance of reading.
  • Michael Albert Art for kids – Tuesday 7/19 Michael has brought art programs to more than 1,000 schools, libraries, museums, art festivals and special events in most of the United States and Europe. REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT
     10:00am-12:00pm – Art for ages 3-7 REGISTER HERE
     1:30pm-3:30pm – Art for ages 8-12 REGISTER HERE
  • Balloon Storytelling – Wednesday, 7/27 10:00am and 7:00pm – finish off the summer reading program with a bit of balloon twisting silliness! This event is outdoors, please bring a chair or blanket for seating.
