|The Professional Standards Division is responsible for many administrative details of the Watertown Police Department. The Professional Standards Division is tasked with ensuring that a high standard of professionalism and excellence in law enforcement continues to exist within the Watertown Police Department. The Professional Standards Division is responsible for developing and reviewing policy, conducting internal audits and reports, and examining procedures throughout the department for efficiency and policy compliance. The Captain of Professional Standards reports directly to the Chief of Police.

Intern Program: Receives and processes applications of students pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university. The Captain of Professional Standards coordinates the schedule of interns.
Training: Manage, plan coordinate, and schedule training for various organizational components of the Watertown Police Department and assist with the Police Training Officer Program. The Captain of Professional Standards serves as the department’s liaison with South Dakota Law Enforcement Training and other professional organizations.
