1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (Birth - Kindergarten)

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading program designed to help parents prepare their children for kindergarten.  The most effective way to get your child ready to learn is to read to them.  To encourage you in that endeavor, you can sign up children ages Birth to beginning Kindergarten.  There are two ways to participate, online or through paper logs.

Story Time

Story time programs aim to instill a love of reading by encouraging parents and other special adults to read aloud to children.   Activities in story time promote brain and language development for children from birth to age 5. At story time, children and caregivers are introduced to five early literacy skills that are essential for learning to read including phonological awareness, vocabulary, letter knowledge, print awareness, and background knowledge.
Remember: Sing, Talk, Play, Write, READ!

**Registration is required for this class.
