[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue Responds to Downtown Fire

On Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at 11:56am, Watertown Fire Rescue responded to 16 Kemp Ave W for a fire behind The Local restaurant.  Engine 4, Engine 3, Medic 4, and Battalion 1 initially responded to the incident.  Upon arrival, fire crews found fire on the patio area immediately behind the downtown structure.  The fire had spread to the second level of the patio and up the exterior wall of the building.  Fire crews knocked the fire down quickly while another crew searched and evacuated the restaurant, the adjacent Harry's salon, and the residential dwellings above the businesses.  Smoke had entered the building but no fire did.  Crews were on scene for approximately one hour looking for extension and ventilating the building.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  No injuries were report on scene.
