The City of Watertown reminds residents of solid waste service adjustments this week, plus post-holiday cleanup reminders.
Garbage Collection Adjustment
- New Year’s Day (Thursday) collection will take place Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Extra Holiday Waste (Through Jan. 8, 2026)
- Green yard waste containers may be used for wrapping paper and extra holiday waste.
- Containers must be set out by 5:00 a.m. on the regular collection day.
- Leave at least four feet of space between containers.
- After Jan. 8, green containers may only be used for yard waste.
Christmas Tree Collection (Through Jan. 8, 2026)
- Real Christmas trees will be collected with regular garbage service.
- Place trees on the boulevard on the normal collection day.
- Remove all lights, decorations, stands, bags, and tinsel.
- Artificial trees will not be collected.
