On 5-6-16 at approximately 1200hrs Watertown Police was notified of a 14 year old juvenile male that took off walking from Great Plains High School.

The male made some comments to fellow students that he was going to return with friends and shoot up the school. A search of the area was conducted by the Watertown Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigations and the Codington County Sheriff’s office.

The juvenile male was located walking in the area and was detained for further investigation. The Watertown Police Department would like to stress that at no time were any people in danger during the course of this investigation to include other area schools.

The juvenile male was arrested for Terroristic Threats and taken to the Codington County Detention Center. Terroristic Threats is a class 5 felony.
