FLOOD UPDATE FOR MARCH 27TH, 2019

FLOOD OPERATIONS CONTINUE

Water levels will rise throughout the day and into the evening The current anticipated crest on the Big Sioux River is Thursday morning at 1:00 AM at a level of 12.7 feet. The current level is 10.99 feet.  As the river continues to rise during the day, more closures are possible.

The current level at Lake Kampeska is 22 inches over full, this is up six inches from yesterday. The anticipated rise above full is from 30-42 inches above full by Saturday afternoon. Lake Pelican currently is 9 ¾ inches above full and still has room for another 24 inches above full before minor flooding occurs.

The Flood  Incident Command team would like to thank the numerous volunteers from throughout the city along with inmates that filled more than 26,000 sandbags at the Codington County Extension Center.
