NEW FLOOD UPDATE FOR MARCH 27TH, 2019

FLOOD OPERATIONS CONTINUE

Water levels will continue rise throughout the day and into the evening The current anticipated crest on the Big Sioux River is Thursday morning at 1:00 AM at a level of 12.3 feet. The current level is 11.04 feet.

Current road closures are 3rd avenue NW in the 600 block, this will be closed until further updates are available. The next closure will be 10th avenue NW if it goes over the road.

The current level at Lake Kampeska is 25.2 inches over full, this is up eight inches from yesterday. The anticipated rise above full is from 30-48 inches above full by Saturday afternoon. Lake Pelican currently is 16 inches above full, with anticipated crest later next week.

Also, sump pump water can not be pumped into the sanitary sewer drains in your homes. This water needs to be pumped outside to the street or your backyard. If homeowners are caught pumping their sump pump water into the sanitary sewer system, they can be fined up to a $1000 a day by city ordinance. The city is currently doing checks around the city to enforce this ordinance.

Please be prepared to plug your floor drains if you live at the lake in low lying areas. Plugging your floor drains not only protects the sewer system but it also protects your home.
