Contact: Sarah Caron, Mayor
The City of Watertown and the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department remind the public that according to City Ordinances, motorized vehicles are not allowed on the City’s recreation trails except for the one section contiguous to the municipal Cattail Crossing Golf Course. Mayor Sarah Caron states, “Because this is a serious safety concern, surveillance will be increased for golf carts or other motorized vehicles on the trail leading up to or other than the section contiguous to the Cattail Crossing Golf Course.”
Citizens who witness violations are encouraged to report this activity to the police department. Specific location, time, date and description of the vehicle, driver and any occupants should be noted. Citizens can sign a complaint against the offender if they choose. Citizens can also remain anonymous if they wish and the identity of the reporting citizen will be kept confidential. Tickets can only be issued as a result of a citizen’s signed complaint or if the officers witness the violation first hand.
