Theft of Motor Vehicles UPDATE 2/14/20

The Watertown Police Department is currently investigating another theft of a motor vehicle from 05:00AM this morning 2/14/2020.

A white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado (SD 5D2 873) was stolen from a residence in the 300 block of 7th Avenue SW in Watertown. The Silverado is described as having tinted windows and a piece of black trim along the side. There is also a toolbox in the box of the truck.

As a reminder, if you come across the vehicles that have not been recovered do not approach the vehicle and contact the Police Department immediately.

The 2012 red Ford Taurus (SD 5D7 404) stolen from the 200 block of W Kemp Avenue was recovered last night in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.  An adult male from Minnesota was in possession of the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

The 2002 red Ford Taurus (SD 5C7 963) has not been recovered.

On 02/12/2020 at about 05:02AM, the Watertown Police Department was dispatched to the 10 block of 8th Street SW to take a stolen vehicle report.  The victim’s red 2001 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen from outside the residence sometime between the hours of 8:30PM and 5:00AM.  The keys were inside the vehicle.

At about 6:37AM the vehicle was discovered unoccupied in the 100 block of N. Broadway Street by police. Approximately two grams of Methamphetamines were left in the vehicle by the suspect.  The condition of the vehicle indicated the suspect searched the vehicle presumably looking for the lost Meth before fleeing the area.

On 02/10/2020 at about 1:55PM, the Watertown Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of W Kemp Avenue to take a stolen vehicle report.  The victim’s 2012 red Ford Taurus (5D7 404) was stolen from outside the residence.  The vehicle has significant damage to the driver’s side door.  The keys were inside the vehicle.

On 02/06/2020 at about 7:13PM, the Watertown Police Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of 29th Street SE to take a stolen vehicle report.  The victim’s 2002 red Ford Taurus (SD 5C7 963) was stolen from a parking lot.  The keys were inside the vehicle.

The two red Ford Taurus vehicles have not been recovered.  Although two of the stolen vehicles are similar color and make, it is not known if the thefts are related.

Please remember to secure your vehicles and remove the keys to protect yourself from theft.

If you have any information regarding the identity of the suspects in these cases, please contact the Police Department at 605-882-6210.  If you come across the vehicles that have not been recovered, do not approach the vehicle and contact the Police Department immediately.
