Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a head on collision Wednesday night, April 16th, shortly before 9:00pm. The crash occurred west of Watertown, at the intersection of 446th Avenue and Highway 212, on the S Curves. Responding crews arrived on scene to find 2 vehicles involved. One vehicle remained on the roadway, the other ended up in the west ditch. There was a total of 3 occupants between the 2 vehicles. All 3 were transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital with undisclosed injuries by Watertown Fire Rescue. Both vehicles were reportedly traveling at highway speeds at the time of impact. Fire Rescue crews remained on scene for about an hour cleaning debris. Also responding was the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Codington County Sheriff’s Department. Traffic was detoured from Hwy 212 for the safety of the responders during cleanup. The crash does remain under investigation, but WFR would like to remind you seat belts absolutely save lives.
