WFR crews responded to two seperate outside fires. The first call came in just before 9 am for a trailer on fire next to 863 Hidden Valley Drive. Upon arrival crews found a open steel trailer with fire in the front corner of the trailer. Materials in the trailer along with the wood floor were burning, the fire was extinguished and damage was contained to the trailer. The fire was believed to be started by an ember from construction workers using a grinder. After they left the high winds fanned the ember until it could start the materials in the trailer on fire. Damage to the trailer was estimated at $500.
Just after 3:30 pm WFR crews were called to a roll-off dumpster fire outside of 802 2nd St NW. On arrival crews found a roll-off dumpster, outside a house being remodeled, on fire. Smoke and flames were visible and were not threatening any structures. Construction debris inside the dumpster was burning. Crews extinguished the flames. A construction workers stated that he had thrown some rags in the dumpster that were used for staining wood. Due to warm and humid temps the most likely cause of the fire was spontaneous combustion of the oil stain rags. There was no damage to the steel roll-off container.
