At 6:30 am WFR responded to the area of 642 North Lake Drive for power lines down. Upon arrival crews found a uprooted Evergreen tree had fallen across some power lines due to the high winds in the area. The tree broke 1 power line that was laying on the ground and the tree was being held up by 2 more power lines. There was no fire or arcing when the power lines fell. Crews blocked the road until Municipal Utility crews arrived on scene. Crews de-energized the power lines, cut the tree away from the power lines and restored power to the residents at the lake. WFR crews were on scene for 1 hour. WFR would like to remind people to stay far away from down power lines. There’s a good chance that the line is still energized, and that means the surrounding ground and any metal objects nearby may also be energized. Even if you don’t see sparks, you should stay at least 20 feet away from the line to be safe.
