Watertown Fire Rescue crews were called to 507 9th Street NE just before 3 pm on 10/13/20 for a report of a house fire. While crews were enroute to the fire, one occupant of the house escaped through a 2nd story window. Once on scene smoke was coming from house and crews made entry into the structure. Once inside the house crews quickly found the fire in the basement of the house. The fire was extinguished and damage was limited to the room of origin. Fire crews also rescued 3 pets inside the home. The home did suffer some smoke and water damage but fire was limited to one room in the basement. The occupant of the house was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital for further evaluation. Crews were on scene for approximately 1 hour. WFR was assisted by WPD and Codington County Emergency Management.
