Recycle Update

The week of Friday, January 15 through Thursday, January 21, 2021 Recycle Route B is collected.  Recycle Route B is south of 3rd Ave N.  Due to the Martin Luther King Day Holiday, the Monday, January 18th route will be collected on Friday, January 15th.  For Single Stream recycling co-mingle all recycle materials in the tan container for collection every other week.  Register at to receive a recycling container.  On line registration is quick and easy.  If online registration will not work for you, complete the form available at the Finance Office in City Hall.

If you need a second recycling container, please go to our website to request one.  The City of Watertown will deliver an additional Tan 95 gallon Single Stream recycling container to households requesting them.  The City’s residential recycling program remains a voluntary program.   Recycling participation at apartments is at the discretion of the apartment manager.

The container remains the property of the City; please do not take them with you if you move.  You must register in order to receive a recycle container.

Help the Watertown recycle program achieve maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.  Please do not set out your recycle container until it is full.

Remember-Never include glass in the recycle container.  Glass is not recycled and causes injuries on the sort line.

PLEASE REMOVE & DISCARD ALL LIDS & CAPS from plastic containers.  Plastic bottles with lids & caps attached do not collapse and take up extra volume in the recycling bales.  If lids are attached they must be manually removed at the recycle facility which is not cost effective.

Please place your collection containers out the night before your collection day to avoid missing the truck.  Collection routes begin at 5:00 AM, and there is no set time when they will cover a certain area of town.  Trucks are not rerouted to pick up containers that are put out late.  All containers placed on the parkway or boulevard on the day of collection shall be removed on the same day following collection.

Thanks for your interest in and awesome support of the single stream curbside recycle program!   The City of Watertown now has over 6,300 active Tan 95 gallon recycling containers located at residences throughout the city.  Please visit the Watertown website for further information or to request a recycle container.
