Watertown Fire Rescue (WFR) was called for a structure fire at 5920 9th Ave SW at 2:30pm on February 17th. Upon arrival to scene, fire crews found smoke and flames coming from underneath the residence. Access was gained to the area and the fire was quickly extinguished. Crews remained on scene to make sure there was not any remaining hidden fire. There was slight fire damage to the home and heavy smoke damage in the interior, making the home uninhabitable. Cause of fire is under investigation. WFR was on scene for approximately 1 1/2 hours and was assisted by Codington County Sheriffs Dept., Codington County Emergency Management and Fire Chaplain Hank Roso.
