FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Watertown is currently reviewing all rights-of-way that our staff are mowing & maintaining. Through this process, we have discovered that city staff has inadvertently been mowing some of these areas that the adjacent landowner, by Ordinance, is responsible to maintain. The landowners are required to mow and maintain the right-of-way directly adjacent to their property, up to the edge of the roadway. This includes ditches, boulevards, and other similar open space.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but due to this discovery, city staff will no longer be able to mow & maintain the area(s) of right-of-way adjacent to your property. We would expect that the adjacent landowners perform this maintenance in order to meet city code as with other locations throughout town. Feel free to contact the Code Enforcement Officer (phone: 605-753-3521) with any questions. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
