Watertown Fire Rescue responded to two grass fires Wednesday afternoon. The first fire, north of Watertown, was a prescribed burn that a passerby had called in to dispatch as an out of control fire. Crews responded but the fire had been extinguished by a burn team prior to arrival. The second fire, located in the 2700 block of 14th Ave NE, had been started by young men lighting fireworks. Upon arrival crews found burned areas in the ditch on both sides of the road, with active fire on the north side of 14th Ave. Crews quickly extinguished the remaining fire and mopped up any hotspots found in the burn area. Watertown Police Dept. made contact with the potential fire starters.
