Wastewater Rate Changes

On November 2, 2020, the Watertown City Council passed resolution 20-48. This resolution amends wastewater billing rates. The amended rates are as follows:


Resolution 20-48 - Wastewater Utility Rate Changes

Commercial User Charge$ 24.20 per month plus an additional charge of $ 2.40 per 100 cubic feet of sewage discharge in excess of the first 700 cubic feet per month.$ 27.30 per month plus an additional charge of $ 2.90 per 100 cubic feet of sewage discharge in excess of the first 300 cubic feet per month.
Industrial User Charge$ 68.70 per month plus an additional charge of $ 4.42 per 100 cubic feet of sewage discharge in excess of the first 700 cubic feet per month.$ 78.30 per month plus an additional charge of $ 5.32 per 100 cubic feet of sewage discharge in excess of the first 700 cubic feet per month.
SurchargesCommercial and industrial sewer customers shall be subject to an additional charge, in addition to the regular charges above based upon the strength of the effluent discharged into the wastewater system to be computed using actual flow monitoring in accordance with the following schedule:
  1. Any excess of 200 mg/l of B.O.D. shall be charged the rate of $0.33 per pound.
  2. Any excess of 250 mg/l of T.S.S shall be charged the rate of $0.27 per pound.
  3. Any excess of 20 mg/l of Ammonia shall be charged the rate of $1.18 per pound.
Commercial and industrial sewer customers shall be subject to an additional charge, in addition to the regular charges above based upon the strength of the effluent discharged into the wastewater system to be computed using actual flow monitoring in accordance with the following schedule:
  1. Any excess of 200 mg/l of B.O.D. shall be charged the rate of $0.34 per pound.
  2. Any excess of 250 mg/l of T.S.S shall be charged the rate of $0.27 per pound.
  3. Any excess of 20 mg/l of Ammonia shall be charged the rate of $1.24 per pound.

 

The resolution has an effective date that correlates with the December 2020 water meter readings for the January 1, 2021, wastewater services billing.
