WFR responds to a structure fire early this morning. Just shortly after midnight, crews responded to a duplex at 209 3rd St. SE in Watertown with fire showing out the back of the house. Crews quickly deployed hose lines around to the back of the house where the fire had self ventilated through the soffit and the door. The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished. Crews then spent a good portion of the night performing overhaul and checking for fire extension to other parts of the structure. There were no injuries reported by fire personnel or tenants of the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no formal statement has been made. One unit had heavy smoke and fire damage and the other unit had only smoke damage. Both parties were aided in temporary relocation and the building owner was notified.
