Oil Burner Fire at Twin City Die and Casting

Artboard 1-100

Watertown Fire Rescue (WFR) responded to Twin City Die and Casting at 122 Cessna St. for a oil burner that malfunctioned and caught on fire.  Workers in the plant noticed a large amount of smoke from oil burner and dialed 911 at 8:46pm on 1-9-2023.  WFR responded with two engines, one ambulance, and Battalion 1.  Crews were met at large garage door by and employee that had turned off power to the oil burner and used several ABC extinguishers to contain fire.  When crews made there way to the oil burner no active fire was observed.  The oil burner was still very hot and was closely monitored while it cooled down.  WFR sent a crew to the roof to make sure fire did not extend out chimney onto roof.  Maintenance was called to come to scene to take care of oil burner.  No water or extinguishing agents were used by WFR.

No injuries were reported and the plant is able to resume operations.

WFR was on scene for approximately 40 minutes.
