Watertown Fire Rescue Receives New Life-Saving Monitors

LifePak 15

Fire Chief Don Rowland is pleased and excited to announce the acquisition from the South Dakota Department of Health, of five lifesaving cardiac monitors to be outfitted on each of the Advanced Life Saving Ambulances. This grant is more than $200,000 in capital assets for the city and also provides a 8-year service contract with the vendor. The city had no match requirement for these devices.

Governor Noem’s budget in 2022 included $11,610,222 in ARPA funding to provide 345 updated LIFEPAK 15s, that are vital sign monitoring and external cardiac defibrillating devices to EMS agencies in South Dakota. This will replace outdated equipment in each licensed ambulance in South Dakota.

LIFEPAK 15 devices have a series of vital signs monitors and external cardiac defibrillators that can provide lifesaving defibrillation in a cardiac event, but also monitor heart rates and alert users of sudden changes. These devices electronically communicate with the receiving hospital, ensuring that the facility has the appropriate information to treat the patient.
